Owls Soar to Strong Finish at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

KAUA’I, HAWAII – Led by two under-par performances, Kennesaw State women’s golf shot up six spots on the final day to finish seventh overall at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii on Wednesday.

The Owls posted a tournament-best 1-over par team score for a total of 297-294-289 after 54 holes at the Ocean Course Hokuala.

True freshman Ariana Silva turned in a terrific final round for the Owls, carding a 3-under par 69 to finish the tournament 1-under and in 11th place, individually. She recorded just one bogey to finish with four birdies and 13 pars.

Nyah Kelly was right behind her for another red-hot finale, turning in a 2-under par 70 to jump 31 spots to 36th overall with a 6-over par score.

Finishing 26th in the tournament was Alessandra Nagayo, who shot 3-over par in Round 3 to finish 3-over par for the tournament.

Rounding out the top-5 finishers for KSU was Jackie Jang, who recorded a 3-over par 75 to finish 11-over par (62nd), while Sabrina Kim shot 7-over on Wednesday for a final score of 13-over (77th).

Leading the individuals after Round 3 was Hannah Cheryl Alan, who carded a 4-over par 76 to finish 14-over (85th), while Ladina Luder had her best day of the week with a 2-over par 74 to finish 95th (19-over). Natasha Korman shot 7-over on Wednesday and finished with a 22-over tournament score (101st).

Kennesaw State will now take the winter off before returning to competition on Feb. 1-3 at the UNCG/Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in West Palm, Fla.
