Pace creates space after eagle hole-out

Lee-Anne Pace started the final round of the Ladies Italian Open presented by Regione Piemonte with a one-stroke lead this morning and the South African quickly gained a three-stroke advantage when she holed her second shot for eagle on the fourth hole at Golf Club Margara. She then birdied the par-4 seventh to open up a four-stroke lead on 12-under-par.

Carolina Melgrati held a brief share of the lead after she birdied the first and then the second hole, which Pace also birdied, but the Italian amateur went on to bogey the fourth, birdie the fifth and drop another shot at the sixth.

She was tied for second South African Casandra Alexander, who carded three birdies and a bogey in her first six holes to sit at eight-under-par.
