Patrick Reed is ready to resume life on the PGA TOUR but has a few boxes to tick before his ban ends in August.
The American, once dubbed “Captain America” for his Ryder Cup antics, is ready to resumt duty in his home country. But to his credit, and with plenty of sponsor’s invites lining up, he has a major goal to tick off first.
He currently sits top of the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings thanks to two wins in Dubai and Qatar earlier this year.
“To be the first American to come over here and win the Race to Dubai, it would mean a lot to me,” Reed explained.
“It is a huge goal of mine. The plan is to keep playing solid golf, try and hoist as many trophies as I can and at the end hopefully I have a chance.”
Reed wants to be known for more than his Ryder Cup record.
“Being known as not just Captain America from the Ryder Cup but also Race to Dubai champion.”
Reed’s suspension from the PGA TOUR officially ends on 25 August and he will return to the PGA Tour as a member in January.
Reed will likely earn his card as a top 10 player in the Race to Dubai upgrading his past champion status, the original route back to the PGA TOUR.
