The PGA TOUR has confirmed that Trey Mullinax has been suspended for six months due to violating the anti-doping policy.
Mullinax on the suspension: “I recently used a medication to treat a condition I was originally diagnosed with in college without seeking approval under the Tour’s Anti-Doping Policy.”
The 34-year-old PGA TOUR player will be eligible to return to competition on in Janaury 2027. The Tour said he cooperated fully during its investigation and accepted the suspension.
“I take full responsibility for what happened,” Mullinax said in a statement provided by the Tour.
“My lack of knowledge is not an excuse.”
Mullinax denied knowingly using the substance to improve his play.
“I want to be absolutely clear — I have never taken any substance with the intention of gaining a competitive advantage,” he said. “Anyone who knows me knows how much I respect this game and the values it represents.”
Mullinax added that he accepts the consequences and plans to use the suspension as a learning experience before returning next year.
“Golf has given me so much, and I never want one mistake to define the respect I have for the game or for the people who support me,” Mullinax said.
The Alabama product has made only three combined starts on the PGA and Korn Ferry tours this season, missing the cut in all three events.
