PING 2024 Putter Line Extension

  • PING adds six new models to their “nameless” putter line.
  • Each new model is optimized for individual performance.
  • Pre-sale begins today, with putters in shops May 2.

In 2023, PING did the unthinkable. They released a line of putters without a name.

The individual putter models had names but not the line as a whole. Ultimately, they were just called the PING Putter line. PING refers to them as the “New PING Putters” on their website.

Today, the “New PING Putter” family grows by six models.

In an industry characterized by marketing and name recognition, it seemed odd to release something that didn’t even have a name. How can you Google something if that something has no name to search for?

The nameless nature of the current PING putter line comes from the atypical way the line was constructed. Normally, new putter lines feature a new technology or design component that unifies the putters.

Not these putters.

Instead, PING focused on the individual models, incorporating the specific elements that a putter needed to make it the best as a model. Maximizing solo performance was the goal.

In some ways, this PING line is like an all-star team. As a team, the all-stars may not be very cohesive but nobody will question the talents of each individual.

“It’s a very diverse offering but the one thing they all have in common is they offer precision performance on putts of every length.”
-John K. Solheim, PING CEO and President

Key Technologies PING Putter Line

PING putter faces

Like the previous models, these new PING putters lack a unifying technology. That doesn’t mean they lack technologies. It just means the technologies we see in these putters will be optimized for each head.

No one tech fits putters here.

The face construction scheme is likely the first place where you will notice the differences. Some of the putters have a milled face; others have a softer-feeling PEBAX polymer insert.

Naturally, the construction variations from putter to putter were dictated by PING’s engineers. In many ways, it is the lack of design cohesiveness that binds all of the putters together.

Let’s move on to the new additions. PING’s descriptions are listed for each in italics.

2024 PING Putter Models: Anser 2

2024 PING Anser 2

Like the timeless Anser, heel-toe weighting provides stability and forgiveness though in a slightly longer and narrower profile. Its shallow milled face ensures a firmer response and consistent roll. The ball-width cavity, sharper ballasts and clean geometry all offer alignment cues in this model featuring a new glare-diffusing raw blast finish.

I found it odd that the initial release did not include the Anser 2. How can PING offer one without the other? It’s like having a PB&J with just J.

Everything about this version of the Anser 2 is classic. The plumber’s neck, silver color and PING logo in the cavity are all iconic. The milled face and the new sole design are the only things that let you know this is a new Anser 2 and not one that has been in your bag for decades.

2024 PING Putter Models: Anser D

2024 PING Anser 2D

Tour pros were consulted in creating this model with a deeper (“D”) profile as a hybrid between the Anser blade and a mallet design; the extra mass is useful in stabilizing the stroke for maximum forgiveness. The shallow milled face ensures a firmer response and consistent roll. A new glare-diffusing raw blast finish contributes to the eye-pleasing visuals.

The Anser D is a fascinating addition to the line. You may remember that the original line had the Anser 2D. How does that one differ from this one?

The two models have different colors, different weighting and different faces. The black Anser 2D has the PEBAX insert face with tungsten weights. This new silver Anser D has a milled face and no tungsten. Perhaps the extended testing at PING HQ determined that the Anser D head was better without the insert and didn’t need the weights.

2024 PING Putter Models: B60

2024 PING PLD Milled Anser

The B60, a longtime PING fan favorite, is back with a shallow milled face that ensures a firmer response and consistent roll. Golfers are familiar with the thin top rail with rounded ballasts, contoured shaping and center alignment line in this balanced, forgiving model. Also new is the glare-diffusing raw blast finish.

The B60 is a classic PING design. Did you know the B60 name came from the fact that it looks like the letter B and that it takes PING 60 minutes to make one?

None of that is true (but it does look like the letter B).

Cheekiness aside, some golfers are going to be very excited that the B60 is back. They will be even more excited when they realize this new one has been optimized for performance by PING.

2024 PING Putter Models: Fetch

2024 PING Fetsch

A dual-density PEBAX face insert delivers a soft feel on shorter putts and a stable feel on longer lag putts. Made putts are easy to retrieve using the sole cutout that’s not only handy – it creates discretionary mass we use to increase MOI and forgiveness. Fetch fans laud the more compact profile as easy to aim. Ball-width alignment lines and a new glare-diffusing raw blast finish aid in the process.

All I am going to say here is that you are not to put the Fetch into the cup to retrieve your ball. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

2024 PING Putter Models: Ketsch G

2024 PING Ketsch G

Its aluminum body and stainless steel sole plate pair with an optimized CGtocreate extreme forgiveness and stability. The dual-density PEBAX face insert delivers a soft feel on shorter putts and a stable feel on longer lag putts. The ball pickup feature on the sole is more than convenient – it allows for redistributing mass to increase MOI. A trio of contrasting sight lines frame the ball to simplify alignment.

I love the original Ketsch. This new Ketsch G gives me a whole bunch of original Ketsch feels from the top. It does get a little odd once we move away from the top, though.

The sole has the typical Ketsch steel plate but also a hole for picking up balls. As long as it still performs, I am all here for the ball-grabbing addition.

The face has the PEBAX insert. This is where I must put my trust in the PING engineers’ reputation. I LOVED the feel of the aluminum face on the original. The grooves on that face made it a once-in-a-generation performer.

Can the PEBAX face actually make this Ketsch G better than the original?

2024 PING Putter Models: Tyne H

2024 PING Tyne H

The twin-fork design is paired with an Anser hosel to provide multiple alignment cues and help square the putter at impact. The shallow milled face ensures a firmer response and consistent roll. Perimeter weighting and an optimized CG position allow for balance, stability, forgiveness and accuracy. A ball-width cavity and contrasting white alignment line promote confident aiming.

Where has Cameron Champ gone? I keep waiting for that fellow Sacramento guy to break through on the PGA Tour again. He is still at the top for driving distance but not finishing at the top of the leaderboards. Cam is such a good dude. I wish him the best.

Maybe this new version of his putter will be the catalyst for Champ being the champ again.

Final Thoughts on the 2024 PING PLD Milled Putters

PING B60 Putter

These six putters bring the New PING Putter line total to 16, creating the most diverse line of putters in golf, maybe ever.

With so much design diversity, everyone should be able to find a model that suits their stroke and maybe even aesthetic. Seriously, if you can’t find a model in this line that fits your stroke, it may be time for putting lessons.

The design diversity delights me, even if I still wish the line had an official name.

FAQ: 2024 PING Putter Line

How much will these cost?

The Ketsch G has a MSRP of $300. The other models are $250 each.

Is PING just going to keep this line going with new additions or will there be another line with a name next year?

Solid question. If it works for PING and the customer, it may keep going but I think we will see a named release in the next cycle.

Why can’t I put the Fetch in the hole?

The damage to your back when you bend over to pick up your ball will likely be less than the “accidental” damage to the hole when you plunge in the Fetch. Fix your ball marks and don’t Fetch from the hole.

Does PING sell non-stock headcovers for their putters?

They do! Check out the online store at PING.com. The topographical themed covers are cool.
