Golfer Adam Hadwin had an unexpected encounter with Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course during the second round of the Valspar Championship. Frustrated after hitting his third shot into a greenside bunker on the 10th hole, Hadwin slammed his club into the turf, inadvertently striking a sprinkler head.
Water immediately sprayed in multiple directions, leaving Hadwin scrambling to stop the flow as pieces of the sprinkler head scattered. His caddie and nearby spectators could only watch as course officials worked to shut it off.
Hadwin went on to card a double bogey and finished with a five-over 76, missing the cut by three shots.
Hadwin’s mishap was just one of several player outbursts at the Valspar Championship. Patton Kizzire punted his putter and later withdrew, while Sahith Theegala lost grip of an iron mid-swing and sent it flying.
Hadwin has not publicly commented on the incident, but his wife, Jessica, posted a lighthearted response on social media referencing the mishap.
Through sickness and health. Amen. pic.twitter.com/3NsMJA3eHH
