Ranked: Oosthuizen in the mix for best finishes without a Major win

Louis Oosthuizen is missing this week but still has his place in an unwanted top five of Major championship golf records.

In a great show of consistency, Oosthuizen has five top 5 finishes without a win over the last 10 seasons of Major golf.

He is two behind Tommy Fleetwood, a player who many expect to challenge this week. Of course, Oosthuizen is missing this week’s spectacle at Royal Birkdale due to a back injury.

The South African won the 2010 Open in a commanding performance for his lone Major win. Now 43, he missed the last two cuts at the Open.

Since moving to LIV Golf, where he captains the Southern Guards, he has tumbled out of the world rankings and no longer qualifies for the other three Major championships. Since 2023, he has only played in three Opens with T23 going with his two missed cuts – he withdrew from the 2023 Masters.

Oosthuizen’s best Major season was in 2021 where he finished second twice, third at the Open and T23 at the Masters – yet another display of his consistency.

Most top 5s without a win in the last 10 years
