Revealed: How much money each player scooped in Nexo Championship at Trump International

The Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen hosted the return of the formerly known Scottish Championship, with a $2.75 million in prize money on the line.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump cut the ribbon on the new course which staged a DP World Tour event for the first time. Now called the Nexo Championship, which was previously featured on the calendar in 2020.

Scottish golfer Grant Forrest carded a course record on his way to winning the Nexo Championship, his first DP World Tour tournament win in four years.

Forrest’s six-under-par 66 in the second round was a shot lower than South Africa’s Richard Sterne managed on the opening day, and earned the Scot a $10,000 bonus – a new performance-based initiative on the Race to Dubai.

The 32-year-old went into the Sunday’s final round with a three-shot lead and despite a wayward tee shot, and a double-bogey, on the last was able to claim the victory by four strokes from Joe Dean on four under.

The victory moved Forrest up the rankings and assures him of his DP World Tour card for next season. He is also top of the board in the Closing Swing Rankings with 633.8 points.

Forrest admits nerves at start of final round

“It’s amazing, just speechless,” Forrest said immediately after his win.

The victory is the second title on home soil, the first was landed with a one-shot victory at the 2021 Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews.

“It’s amazing, just speechless. I think it’s the same week on the calendar that I won in 2021 at home,” said Forrest after the Nexo Championship victory.

“Tough day today, didn’t have my best at all, a lot of good par saves on front nine, and I was pretty nervous down the last, but yeah can’t believe it.

“It’s been such a tough year on the course, it’s a crazy game that you can come out and do this.”

“I was way down the rankings heading into this week, and while I had started to play a bit better was very much on the bubble.

“But one week can turn things around and it sure has.”

Forrest’s nerves were helped by three par saves at the start of the round.

“Yeah, they were really important. I was obviously really nervous, as you would be and that really settled the nerves, as well as a brilliant second shot into four,” he said.

“It was a day where I thought it was going to be tough for someone to chase and I knew that if I didn’t drop any shots, there were going to be plenty of good chances for me and I managed to do that for the most part.

“Even the 5 on 12 after the tee shot is something I’d have taken and then I made good saves on 16 and 17 as well to give a good cushion coming down 18.”
