Germany’s Celina Sattelkau claimed her maiden Sunshine Ladies Tour title after defeating South Africa’s Casandra Alexander in a six-hole playoff at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge at Humewood Golf Club on Friday.
The playoff only ended when Alexander bogeyed the 6th hole, handing Sattelkau the victory.
“I am super happy to have won this tournament. It’s my first professional win ever and my first individual win since 2018, so I am overjoyed and really thankful,” Sattelkau said.
Alexander, the 2025 Sunshine Ladies Tour Investec Order of Merit champion, had set the clubhouse target at three under par with a closing 68. Sattelkau joined her on three under with a 69, finishing her round with two birdies over the final four holes.
“I actually had a chance at birdie on the 17th and even a chance for eagle on the 15th, so I could have done even better on those holes,” Sattelkau added. “I also made an up-and-down on the 18th after being in the bunker. After two bogeys on the 12th and 13th, the two birdies on the final four holes was a really great mental comeback.”
Remarkably, this was only the second playoff in the history of the tournament, which first teed off in 2014.
“The playoff was tough,” Sattelkau said. “On the 18th the wind comes from the left and the hole plays really long. On the first playoff hole I thought it was over after missing the fairway right and finding a super-deep bunker. I managed to find the green and make par. It was a long battle against Casandra – she’s a great player, and I’m happy I came out on top.”
Having secured her first Sunshine Ladies Tour title and the first of the 2026 season, Sattelkau is looking forward to the weeks ahead.
“I can’t wait for the rest of the season. I don’t want to put expectations on myself – I just want to keep having fun, playing well, and improving,” she said.
Defending champion Nadia van der Westhuizen finished third on one under par after a final-round 70.
