Schaper leads South African race in world rankings

Jayden Schaper continues to be the pace setter for South African golfers following his brilliant run of form over the past few months.

Schaper leads the South African contingent in the latest Official World Golf Rankings despite dropping three places to sit 54th.

Following his breakthrough in December, Schaper is also at the top of the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit heading into this week’s Jonsson Workwear Open at Durban Country Club.

Garrick Higgo is second in 74th place with Thriston Lawrence now 80th while Christiaan Bezuidenhout (89th) and Aldrich Potgieter (94th) round out the South African players inside the top 100.

Dean Burmester moved up 46 places to 233rd in the world after his week in Adelaide with his Southern Guards teammate Branden Grace moving to 326 after starting the week outside the top 400.

LIV Golf players now receive world ranking points following a top 10 finish.

At the top of the standings, Tommy Fleetwood has moved past countryman Justin Rose into third place behind Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy at the pinnacle.
