Scottie Scheffler has not missed a cut in a very, very long time but this weekend he will have his feet up.
The World No 1 has not missed a cut since 2022 – a run of 78 events.
Another remarkable streak ended this week was a run of 37 consecutive top 25 finishes.
All of that gone this week after finishing level after 36 holes with the cut line at -2.
“I didn’t really feel like I played that bad,” Scheffler said.
“This golf course can be just tough at times.”
“I kept sitting there, like good shot into 12, (it’s) 25 feet. Good shot into 13. Get a gust there,” Scheffler said.
“Fourteen, good shot. But it’s still 20, 25 feet. Same thing on 15 … felt like I was hitting a little too far from the hole and wasn’t holing any of those putts.”
Scheffler will now head to Royal Birkdale to defend the Claret Jug next week.
“I’m definitely proud of the consistency,” Scheffler said of the cut streak.
