The Scottish Open has a stellar field but still a number of leading players have opted against playing the week before The Open.
Arguably the biggest surprise is that Justin Rose has decided to skip the Rolex Series event.
The Englishman has played in the past four versions of the Scottish Open and is a past champion but has still decided to rest ahead of the trip to Royal Birkdale.
He is one of the leading players in the world sitting in 10th spot in the OWGR and is joined by Cameron Young, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa on the sidelines.
The three Americans are all top 10 players in the world but aren’t keen on playing this prestigious event.
Also missing out are the likes of Sam Burns, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Tony Finau, who will now miss The Open for the first time since 2014 after failing to qualify.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler and No.2 Rory McIlroy headline the Scottish Open which has Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in the field. Both are now DP World Tour players after agreeing to pay off their fines.
