You know what?
Data be damned (I say that lovingly).
I recently wrote about how we should never tell anyone how to enjoy the game of golf.
Well, I decided I want to go back to playing a blade putter. Yes, my L.A.B. Mezz.1 Max definitely made me a better putter (you can ask my scramble partners). But sometimes I like to switch it up for the sake of switching it up. And having a cool putter to switch to sure helps.
I recently put a new Powerbilt putter in the bag, a slick blade that was designed by Weston Maughaun, who just happens to live a few miles up the road from where I grew up in Utah.

Honestly, this thing rolls the rock beautifully.
It feels great off the face. It looks really sleek. The orange leather grip is buttery.
It’s everything I want in a putter (other than making me a better putter).
And that’s OK. Because no one can tell me how to enjoy golf (see above).
So if I want to play a putter that isn’t designed to save me strokes? That’s my prerogative. You don’t have to agree with it. Or do it yourself.
But you can at least respect playing a piece of gear simply because you think it’s darn cool.
And I think this Powerbilt putter is cool.
