Nippon Shafts have been celebrating worldwide success as golfers playing with their steel shafts won on both the DP World Tour and the men’s Japan Golf Tour.
Paul Waring took victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the journeyman maintaining his composure to better a high quality set of chasers that included Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton.
Waring used N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 steel shafts in his irons to craft a two-shot victory at Yas Links.
Moreover, runner up Hatton had the very same shafts in his irons.
Waring carded 24-under par with rounds of 64-61-73-66=264 to win his second DP World Tour event. He also earned a dual membership to the DP World and PGA Tours for 2025, a spot in the Open at Royal Portrush and he moved to number five on the Race to Dubai rankings. He earned $1.53 million of the $9 million purse.
Ishikawa wins in Japan again
Over in Japan, Ryo Ishikawa, once the darling of his nation’s golfers, was the winner of the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters using N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 125 shafts in his irons and wedges.
The 33-year-old shot 11-under par 269 with rounds of 66-71-65-67 and earned 40 million yen ($260,000).
Nicknamed Hanikami Oki or the Bashful Prince, it was his 20th win on home soil but he is yet to win in Europe or the United States.
