WHILE Maroochy River celebrated its 10th anniversary at its Bli Bli site on May 31, popular head professional Sean Seymore packed his bags and prepared to leave after 34 years at the club.
Seymore, who was an assistant professional at Horton Park, before sharing the role of head pro with Mal Robertson for many years, had run golf operations at Horton Park and Maroochy River for the past 15 years.
But, despite a long and sometimes stressful period of negotiation, Seymore and the club could not agree on terms for his new contract.

Seymore will move to Caloundra where he and fellow professional Marcus McPherson have opened an indoor golf centre, complete with Trackman bays, a retail centre and coaching facilities.
Instead of a head professional Maroochy River’s golf activities will be managed in-house, under the direction of new Director of Golf Matt Rogers, who was formerly Director of Golf at Pacific Harbour, on Bribie Island.
Meanwhile, Matt Lang, a former Victorian who had stints at Headland and Beerwah since moving north four years ago, has been appointed Operations Manager, replacing Ben Dobson, who is off on a year-long caravan trip around Australia.
Also leaving the club is course superintendent Stuart Campbell, who started work at Horton Park 14 years ago, before the club relocated to Bli Bli. He is understood to have launched his own landscaping business.
