A host of former Sunshine Ladies Tour champions will tee off in this week’s Jabra Ladies Classic at Killarney Country Club on Wednesday, with the latest winner on the Tour, Danielle du Toit, leading the charge and joined by seasoned campaigners Lee-Anne Pace and Nobuhle Dlamini as well as 2025 champions Kiera Floyd and Nadia van der Westhuizen.
Du Toit claimed her second professional title in the third tournament on this year’s Sunshine Ladies Tour in the Standard Bank Ladies Open hosted by the City of Cape Town last weekend.
Du Toit says she is preparing herself for a completely different challenge in this 54-hole tournament this week.
“It’s going to be different weather. It’s still wet and raining in Johannesburg, which is completely different to last week. I’m just going to keep on building. I know where I want my game to be. This win was a great step in the right direction, but onwards and upwards.”
Last year’s R&A Rookie of the Year, Kaiyuree Moodley, has had a strong start to her campaign this year with a top five and top 10 finish in the first two tournaments of the season.
Moodley finished tied third in last year’s Jabra Ladies Classic and says this event is another perfect example of how the Sunshine Ladies Tour prepares local professionals for the upcoming Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned tournaments and the rest of that season.
“It’s fantastic having the Sunshine Ladies Tour events just before the Ladies European Tour (LET) and even including the co-sanctioned events. I think that is just great practice. When we play in Europe it’s also summertime and here we are enjoying the sunlight, the heat as well, so climate-wise it definitely helps. But also having that competitive spirit starting in February before the international campaign is great.”
