Fisk fired a composed three-under-par 67 in challenging, breezy conditions at Hurstbourne Country Club to finish at 16-under-par, matching Pendrith and setting up a tense playoff. After both players traded pars on the opening extra holes, Fisk held his nerve to two-putt for par on the third playoff hole and secure the victory.
The win marks another major milestone in Fisk’s career, earning him a place in next year’s PGA Championship while adding to his maiden PGA Tour title at the Sanderson Farms Championship last October.
“Kind of feel like all the work I’ve been putting in paid off,” Fisk said. “It’s been a frustrating year trying to back up that first win. I’ve showed some pretty good signs of some solid golf, but haven’t really had that opportunity to win a golf tournament that I’ve been kind of craving. It was unbelievable to get it done again.”
The playoff produced plenty of drama, particularly on the second extra hole, where Fisk recovered brilliantly after finding one bunker and then another before splashing out to just three feet to save par and keep his hopes alive.
Reflecting on the playoff, Fisk said: “In my opinion the playoffs are a little easier, there’s less nerves. You’ve already locked up a great finish, there’s not really a whole lot to lose. You’re just going out there trying to win, and it’s either going to be you or the other guy. I think that’s almost calming in a way.”
That calmness was on full display when it mattered most. Fisk stayed composed under pressure, converting the winning par on the third playoff hole to capture his second PGA Tour title and continue the impressive momentum in his career.
