Inside Golf is compiling a list of Australia’s 100 best public golf experiences and we are launching a nationwide call to action.
Now in our 20th year, this is Inside Golf Magazine’s first course rankings list and we want you, passionate golfers and the Australian golfing community, to be at a part of it.
“This is something we’ve wanted to do for years — and now it’s finally happening,” Inside Golf Publisher Sam Arthur said.
“Public golf in Australia is incredibly important, and the quality and variety of courses we have here is world-class. We’re so lucky to live in a country where we can access and enjoy these golf courses all year round.
“We know course rankings are always a personal thing, not everyone will agree, but we’ll do our absolute best to get it right. We can’t wait to see which courses make our Top 100.”
This will be a long-awaited and highly anticipated top 100 in celebrating the best public golfing experiences our country has to offer.
Our writers and editorial contributors, industry experts, club pros and touring professionals and a range of knowledgeable golfing enthusiasts from all over the country will be asked to contribute to our first-ever top 100 list.
We aim to honour the standout courses, those that offer exceptional value, unforgettable play, and are accessible to every golfer, from casual golfers and weekend warriors to the seasoned campaigners and regular players.
Golf in Australia is booming, public golf has never been more vibrant and with new investment in regional courses, world-class design innovation, and an increasingly engaged golfing public, the time is right to shine a spotlight on the very best of what’s available for you to play regularly, occasionally or as a bucket list destination.
And there’s no better source of insight than the golfers who walk these fairways every week, therefore unlike other top 100 lists, this one isn’t decided behind closed doors. We’re asking for you, our readers, to help us in identifying what you believe to be Australia’s best public golf experiences.
How to Participate: Make your votes count
Select from the list provided judged against a carefully considered criteria:
• Design & Layout: Does the course offer strategic shot-making and architectural integrity?
• Conditioning: How well is the course maintained year-round?
• Setting & Ambience: From coastal cliffs to bushland backdrops — does the location leave a lasting impression?
• Playability: Is the course fair and fun for all skill levels?
• Overall Experience: Think customer service, clubhouse facilities, value for money, and that intangible “X factor.”
Whether it’s a regional gem or your local course or a bucket-list destination, one you have the opportunity to play and a course you’ll never forget, we want to see which courses you beleive deserve recognition and to be considered among the nation’s best.
So how do you get involved? Simply visit www.insidegolf.com.au/top-100/ to select your favourite courses in your region, state and/or those you have played around the country, with every submission helping us build and deliver a more authentic, inclusive list.
We’ve included a list of more than 250 golf courses for you to choose from.
Select courses from our menu in state order. You can select five, 10 or 50 or even 100…totally up to you. Just choose the best courses you’ve experienced. Every entry counts, your votes are crucial to finalising our 100 best public golf experiences.
(Note: Public Access Courses only, where play is regularly available for public/casual/visiting golfers without a required member or special invitation, courses you can play even without having a club membership or official handicap.)
The deadline for submissions is October 14 so don’t delay.
