If you are looking for a new driver in 2025 you are in luck. The year is barely a month old and we have already seen industry heavyweights TaylorMade, Callaway and Ping launch brilliant new drivers in time for the new year.
We are right in the middle of launch season and it is time to compare prices and early reviews of the drivers to see how the golfing world is reacting to the new products.
A new driver is not cheap. The latest range-topping drivers are priced from around £500 ($599) but which offers the best value and performance?
The Taylormade Qi35 driver prices and reviews
Pre orders for the Taylormade Qi35 driver opened at the beginning of January and the first orders will arrive on 30 January. It is one of the biggest launches of the year for drivers. You can read everything you need to know about the Taylormade Qi35 driver here.
Taylormade says the new Qi35 driver is designed to help golfers hit the ball longer but it also has more face to offer increased forgiveness.
There are four clubs in the range. The ultra-low spin Taylormade Qi35 LS, the standard Qi35, the mid-spin Qi35 Max and the ultra-forgiving and long distance Qi35 Max Lite. The early reviews are in and the Taylormade could be the best new driver launch of 2025.
Price: Each of the clubs is £529 in the UK and $599 in the US. You can buy it here.
Reviews: The Qi35 driver is awarded four and a half stars out of five at Golf Monthly thanks to its ‘sensational looks’ and ‘versatility and adjustability’. Meanwhile Bunkered gave it a full five stars, saying: “TaylorMade have the smashed it out of the park this year. The TaylorMade Qi35 looks great, feels great and could be the favourite of many in 2025.”
The Callaway Elyte X driver prices and reviews
Callaway makes some of the best drivers on the market and you would think that would be enough. Instead, the company has invested $2m into research and development and the result is the superb Callaway Elyte X driver.
Like the TaylorMade, Callaway says the driver is designed for maximum range and forgiveness. It is built from new carbon composite and the result is a faster swing and a more forgiving face. That means you can hit it further and straighter than previous Callaway clubs.
Price: The Callaway Elyte X costs £499 in the UK and $599 in the US. You can buy it here.
Reviews: Today’s Golfer says this could be one of the best clubs of 2025, adding distance to the Smoke Ai driver. It says: “It’s safe to say Callaway’s R&D wizards have walked the walk.”
Early playtests suggest the Elyte X is the most forgiving Callaway driver yet. Distance, control and launch have all been improved by Ai. This is the perfect club for those who need a little help from the tee.
Ping G440 driver prices and reviews
The Ping G440 is not just a driver launch. In February it will be joined by irons, hybrids and fairway woods when it arrives in stores.
The new Ping G440 has the lowest centre of gravity of any Ping driver. That means it increases speed and distance when on the tee and the thinner face gives the ball a speed boost.
There will be three models. The Max will be the most forgiving of the three, while the LST is a low-spin variation that offers faster spins and increased control. The SFT features slice-correcting to help keep the ball straight and fairway-bound.
Price: The Ping G440 will be priced at £529 in the UK and $599 in the USA. You can buy it here.
Reviews: Early reviews are full of praise for the Ping G440’s ability to control off centre drives. It re-adjusts mishits easily and helps to boost speed and power off the tee.
