Double Major winner and LIV Golf star, Bryson DeChambeau, has delivered a heartfelt statement during a White House press conference alongside President Donald Trump.
The U.S. President has assembled a new council of professional athletes, including golf fan-favourite DeChambeau, aimed at transforming youth fitness across the United States of America.
It is well known that Trump has an emphasis on physical strength as a part of an American national identity.
The conference marked the 70th anniversary of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition and its newfound ambition.
His latest in a string of signed executive orders is set to revive the iconic Presidential Fitness Test that was long a staple in American Public Schools.
The move, endorsed by the likes of DeChambeau, has had a mixed reception.
The 31-year-old has grown in popularity with his YouTube presence, and his exciting brand of golf is the perfect ambassador for the scheme.
DeChambeau has long been an advocate for fitness and physical strength in the sport of golf; he’s built upon his game by combining these attributes with science and has certainly reaped the rewards.
He expressed his appreciation for the signing of the order, hailing it as a positive step for the youth of America.
At the White House lectern, DeChambeau announced: “I’d like to say thank you to President Trump and Vice President Vance for your support and this initiative and council.
“To be honest, I never would have thought that this opportunity would have been here, right at our doorstep,” he added on the unexpected nature of the order.

For DeChambeau, the chance to improve the futures of young people is one that he claimed should be jumped at to foster the next wave of USA athletes:
He stated: “We have an opportunity, at the 70th anniversary of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, to literally change the fabric of kids’ lives.”
His remarks come off the back of his recent cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, a movie that has been watched by millions of times in its first week and will inspire thousands of children to get involved with physical activity.
The move is forward-looking with an emphasis on positively impacting the youth of today, both physically and mentally, through the reintroduction of the President’s Fitness Test.
DeChambeau explained: “Our first initiative is to bring back and reignite the President’s Fitness Test.
“We’ve got a great established council with us that we believe can change the fabric of our communities and kids’ livelihoods for the future generations to come.”
President Trump, who signed the order moments before the golfer took the stand, dubbed the move: “A return to discipline, pride and strength in our schools.”
The wider council contains a series of American athletes from multiple sports, namely: golf, American football, athletics and baseball, including NFL kicker, Harrison Butker.
The Presidential Fitness Test includes generic tests such as the mile run, pull-ups and sit-ups and will aim to improve the level of physical fitness in the youth of today.
DeChambeau closed with a heartwarming statement, highlighting what his involvement means to him personally: “I can’t thank you guys enough.
“We’re looking forward to making massive changes in kids’ lives and America’s future.”
