LET’S face it. Most people who are as slow as all get out on the golf course have no real idea of how annoying they are.
They get caught up in their own little world and are largely unaware of their on-course foibles and idiosyncrasies which annoy the heck out of their playing partners and anyone else in the field.
They are not bad people and are often horrified when the club sends them a letter to get a move on when they play, or else. They are often in denial, too, claiming ‘everyone does it.’
Thank goodness then, for On-Pin GPS Analytics who has come to the aid of club administrators. Now managers can quietly and politely show serial offenders exact data as to where and when they can improve.
On-Pin is already operating at The Heritage Golf and Country Club in Victoria with outstanding results.

The On-Pin GPS, fitted to the golf carts at The Heritage, has been a winner on many different levels.
“It quite simply improves the experience for every player out on the course,” says Heritage GM, Michael Dean.
“We have been so impressed by this innovation.
Dean says the GPS has a very high level of accuracy “to about one metre.” There is very little GPS ‘drift.’
“We are a premium course and wanted an advanced system.
“The pace of play can be monitored from the pro-shop. And the ‘smart marshalling’ feature is great.
“What’s more, we like the fact that the On-Pin GPS can be fitted to all cart makes and models. This suits us because we have a mixed brand in our fleet.”
Dean says this also gives the club flexibility should it decide to change cart suppliers down the track.
Another outstanding feature of the system is automatic incident reporting, he says.
“We can now profile the respect a driver of a golf cart has for the course. Management can have our systems communicate directly with golfers should they disrespect the course rules.”
Dean believes the introduction of On-Pin GPS at Heritage has been a winner on so many levels.
“Health and safety on a golf course is becoming more apparent these days and the system offers many benefits in this area,” he says.
Heritage is also fitting the GPS to its private carts. “This will really assist us in managing course flow on both our courses.”
With the demand for tee times putting inordinate pressure on both private and public facilities across the country, On-Pin GPS has certainly come along at the right time for frustrated managers who are constantly trying to make sure everyone who wants to play golf can have their experience and enjoyment of the game enhanced considerably.
