The Most Unique Hat in Golf?

Although rope hats are all the rage, Beaver Pelt Golf decided that wasn’t enough.

So they added a bottle opener to the underbrim.

What?

Whether you’re cracking open a Mexican Coke or a Corona Extra with a lime, the bottle opener is at your disposal.

I love the logo that pays homage to a nice “beaver pelt” divot from a flushed wedge shot. I prefer the term “Golf Rabble Pancak,” but beaver pelt is a close second.

Is it functional?

I’m not sure whether the idea was to be able to use the bottle opener with the hat on your head or not but I wasn’t willing to try with how close the Mexican Coke was to my eye.

I worried I might (a) poke my eye out or (b) spill Coke all over my face and into my eyes.

The best way to use the bottle opener is to take the hat off of your head, grip the brimand crack open the beverage of choice.

I worry that the brim will deteriorate over time but the hat isn’t a bad novelty gift to a friend or family member.

The snapback design is great. There’s nothing better than brand-new crispy snapback hat. Maybe it’s just me but I get that warm and fuzzy feeling when I snap a new snapback for the first time.

The bad

I had a couple of qualms while testing the “Bottle Opener Rope Hat” from Beaver Pelt Golf.

No. 1: The bottle opener will be in your peripheral vision at all times. I found it distracting. While it wasn’t terrible during the round of golf I played with the hat on my head, it was a peripheral nightmare the rest of the time.

No. 2: The stitching on the brim directly on top of the bottle opener is poor. No, it’s an eyesore. I wish Beaver Pelt Golf had a bit more attention to detail here.

(If I was designing this rope hat, I would’ve converted this eyesore of a circle into a magnetic ball marker holder.)

Novelty or contender?

The Bottle Opener Rope Hat fits into my novelty category.

The peripheral issues mixed with the poor stitching design on the brim prevent me from recommending the hat for daily wear. I said it earlier and I’ll say it again: it’s an eyesore having to see the bottle opener everywhere I look.

If you’re just looking to have fun with your buddies and share a drink or two, your entire golf group should have a Beaver Pelt Golf Hat. It’s a conversation starter and can prove to be extremely useful … to the drinking crowd.
