Southern Guards pair Dean Burmester and Branden Grace were among the top players who failed at the final qualifying attempt for this year’s Open Championship.
The pair were among several LIV Golf stars teeing up in Kent where 5 spots were up for grabs.
LIV Golf player Luis Masaveu and Thomas Detry fell just short at the venue as did five-time DP World Tour winner Thriston Lawrence.
Both Burmester and Grace were in the hunt after the opening round and indeed towards the halfway mark in the second round before their bids were derailed. They both walked off the course as is customary in qualifying when you have no realistic chance of making inside the top 5 spots.
Down at Burnham & Berrow, LIV Golf duo Marc Leishman and Anirban Lahiri were among those who failed to shine in Somerset.
2016 Masters champion Danny Willett was a couple shy at West Lancs, while fellow Englishmen Matt Wallace and Marcus Armitage walked off as well after failing to play themselves into contention.
