This Cleveland x SWAG Wedge Collab Is For “High Rollers” Only

For many of us, golf is a little more interesting when there’s a little sumpin’ sumpin’ on the table. Whether it’s a five-dollar nassau or family bragging rights, it brings a little juice to the match and gets your blood pumpin’ pumpin.’

If you want to announce your gambling presence with authority, this Cleveland x SWAG High Roller collab might just let your opponents know you’re down for a little action.

As we wade deeper into Limited Edition Season, it’s important to remember these launches are about one thing and one thing only: having a little fun. If you’re a regular reader of these pages, please prepare to repeat after me that old and treasured aphorism:

Golf is a game, and games are supposed to be fun.

So lighten up and let’s have some fun.

Cleveland x SWAG: Higher rollers need a short game

Cleveland and SWAG have collaborated before. Last August, the duo got together for one of the more badass limited editions we’ve seen in a while. It was a cash-money collab with the wedges laser etched with dead presidents sporting shades on their respective bank notes.

This year, Cleveland and SWAG are going full Vegas with the “High Roller” collection. It’s a veritable royal flush (almost) of Cleveland RTZ wedges with each loft sporting a bold face card design. There are six right-handed wedges. The 50 and 52 feature the jack while the 54 features the queen. The king is the 56 and the ace is the 58.

There’s a joker in every deck and, in this case, it’s the 60-degree model.

Lefties, as is so often the case, get a little less love with a 52-degree jack, a 56-degree queen and a 60-degree king.

Cleveland and SWAG round out the High Roller collection nicely with a SWAG-labeled Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shaft, custom black-and-gold ferrules and Golf Pride MCC grips, also in black and gold.

The wedges are available in Cleveland’s Mid Grind only.

Do we really need wedges dressed up with playing cards?

Need? C’mon, man, of course not.

But since when has “need” ever entered into golf? It’s a game we play for fun so why the hell not add a little flair to it?

“SWAG is one of the most expressive brands out there,” Cleveland Marketing VP Chris Kircher tells MyGolfSpy. “With them, we can associate with consumers who are on this macro trend of personalization, customization, being cool, looking good and playing good golf.”

“SWAG has never been about blending in,” adds SWAG Marketing VP Sean Ferrell. “It’s exciting to work with a partner that understands that energy.”

The one concern I’ve always had about limited-edition drops is that if you’re dropping a premium to buy them, would you be hesitant to actually play them? A standard RTZ wedge in the black satin finish runs $179 off the rack. The SWAG collab RTZs are selling for the oddly specific price of $222.22. I suppose if you really wanted to express your gambling spirit and tell the world you’re an individual by buying a limited edition of a mass-produced wedge, a $43 premium probably isn’t going to scare you off.

Srixon joins the collab party, too

Not to be left out, Srixon is getting on the High Roller collection with customized Z-STAR Diamond golf balls decked out with jack, queen, king and ace of diamonds logos. The High Roller golf balls are selling for $59.99 per dozen, a five-dollar premium over the “regular” Z-STAR Diamonds.

Limited editions such as these are fascinating, fun and show off SWAG’s design capabilities as well as Cleveland’s ability to personalize wedges. Cleveland does offer the most aggressive wedge personalization program in the industry. Not only can you customize sole grinds but they also offer several types of laser-etched skins and extensive paint-fill options, all at what can be considered a reasonable price.

Whether you think the Cleveland x SWAG High Roller collab is “reasonably” priced kinda depends. Do you know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em? Know when to walk away? Know when to run?

Or, do you just like to have a little fun?. It’s a game after all.

I think you know the rest.

The Cleveland x SWAG High Roller collection is available through the Cleveland Golf, Srixon and SWAG websites. It’s also available exclusively through Golf Galaxy.
