I don’t take golf trips very often.
I’ve got a two-year-old at home with whom I’d rather spend time and it’s probably good to give my wife a break every once in a while.
But when I do travel, I’ve often been frustrated with the whole packing situation. I’ve gone through a few backpacks from golf brands (Stitch, Vessel, I’m looking at you), and none have felt, for lack of a better term, “easy” to travel with.
I’m a pretty stressed traveler so my criteria for good travel gear are simple: big enough that I don’t have to bring more luggage than necessary and accessible enough that I can quickly get to anything I need on the plane.
I prefer a big backpack, one with a ton of usable space. Like golf bags, being big for the sake of being big is not always a good thing.
Good news! I’ve found a backpack I feel comfortable traveling with. And it’s from a brand that you’re probably familiar with anyway.
I’ve been testing Club Gloves’ new Tour Backpack for the past month or so and it is, without a doubt, the most utilitarian backpack I’ve ever used. I’m legitimately shocked by how much this bag holds and how many pockets it manages to incorporate.
But that’s not the thing I’m most impressed by.
The fit and finish is leaps and bounds ahead of anything I’ve tried. For one, the ballistic nylon is freakin’ legit. TSA could run it over with a truck and it’d probably come out without a scratch.
But the zippers? Yeah, man. That’s where it’s at. High-quality hardware and zippers are make-or-break for products like this. Because what good is a backpack if the zipper breaks three months in?
The Club Glove Tour Backpack is bulletproof, big and badass-looking. That’s three Bs but if I was a professor of golf travel, I’d give this guy an “A.”
(Oh, and don’t forget the five-year warranty).
Yeah, this one is staying with me for the long haul.
