Three aces, three different holes, same day

David Lilley, Kevin Delayney and Kerry Stait, all made hole in ones on the same day, but on different holes, at Bathurst Golf Club.

IT was almost like a scene from that famous movie Groundhog Day at Bathurst Golf Club last month.

Every time General Manager Brad Constable turned around there was another hole-in-one.

Of course, aces are not all that rare at most golf clubs.

But three aces, on three different holes – and all on the same day?

Surely the odds of that occurring must be, well, astronomical.

The culprits were David Lilly, who holed out on the difficult 190m fifth hole.

That was followed by Kevin Delaney, who nailed the perfect tee shot on the 123m eighth hole.

And lastly, Kerry Stait, who achieved his amazing feat on the equally-tricky 158m 13th hole.

Constable couldn’t quite believe it when the news kept filtering back to the clubhouse – time and again.

“It certainly made for a pretty historic day at our club,” he told Inside Golf.

“The course was in great nick and it was our regular Thursday individual and 2BBB competition.

“Yes, the drinks flowed in the clubhouse after all those memorable moments.

“I doubt we’ll have another day like that in our history.

“Aces are hard enough to get at the best of times, so we were pretty stunned that there could be three in one competition.”

It was actually a shame they picked that day to hole out.

At the Bathurst Legacy Charity Golf Day earlier in the year, there was a $20,000 prize for a hole in one.
