Tiger Woods chatted to the press ahead of the 2024 Masters and still thinks there is one more victory at Augusta National left in him.
Tiger Woods is gearing up for his 26th Masters Tournament.
The 48-year-old golfer has not played tournament golf since withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February due to illness. Despite this setback and the ongoing effects of multiple injuries throughout his career, Woods remains determined to compete for a sixth green jacket at Augusta National.
“If everything comes together, I think I can get one more,” Woods said, reflecting on his prospects at Augusta.
This sentiment was echoed during his practice rounds, where he played nine holes with Justin Thomas and 1992 champion Fred Couples.
Woods has been grouped alongside good friends Jason Day and Max Homa for the opening two rounds of the tournament that tees off at 3:24 am (AEST) on Friday.
In addition to his focus on the Masters, Woods has been in talks with the PGA of America regarding the captaincy for the next two Ryder Cups.
Woods confirmed that discussions about the role will conclude after the Masters.
“We’re still talking about it,” Woods said, hinting at his possible captaincy.
The 15-time major winner has been offered the opportunity to captain the US team at Adare Manor in 2027 and possibly at Bethpage next year. Woods has indicated that his decision will depend on his ability to continue playing competitive golf. Despite his physical limitations, Woods believes he can still contribute to the game and elevate the profile of the Ryder Cup as a potential captain.
