Tiger Woods, sidelined for the 2025 season with a ruptured left Achilles tendon, was back on the course in a supporting role on Monday, walking the fairways of Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas as he followed son Charlie during the opening round of the US Junior Amateur.
The 15-time Major champion, who underwent surgery in March, has yet to set a return date to competitive golf. Monday marked his first public appearance at a tournament since February’s Genesis Invitational, from which he withdrew following the death of his mother, Kultida Woods.
Charlie Woods endured a difficult start, carding an 11-over 81 in the first round of the US Golf Association event. The 15-year-old made two birdies but also registered five bogeys and four double-bogeys to sit in a share of 242nd place.
Tiger, who turns 50 in December, has not played competitively since missing the cut at last year’s Open at Royal Troon. A three-time US Junior Amateur winner himself (1991-1993), Woods holds 82 PGA Tour titles, tied with Sam Snead for the all-time record.
The US Junior Amateur features 36 holes of stroke play across two days, with a starting field of 264 players. The top 64 will advance to the match play rounds from 23-27 July to determine the champion.
