ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia’s Trinity Beth has been named to the SEC’s All-Freshman team in balloting of the league coaches, the conference office announced on Friday.
Beth joined the Bulldogs in January as a mid-year enrollee and made a dramatic and immediate impact. In six tournaments, the Calvert City, Ky., native notched four top-25 and two top-10 individual finishes. She leads Georgia in both stroke average (71.41) and par-or-better rounds (11). In fact, Beth shot par-or-better in 64.7 percent of her rounds (11 of 17) this spring, and she is a combined 1-under over those 306 holes.
Beth led Georgia to a sweep of the individual and team titles at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. She shot 6-under 66 in the opening round, the lowest score every by a Georgia golfer in the tournament’s 54-year history, and eventually finished at 10-under, just a stroke off of the tourney record. Beth also tied for ninth at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which included 18 of the nation’s top-50 golfers in the field.
The All-Freshman accolade is the third time the SEC has honored Beth this spring. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 25 and SEC Golfer of the Week on April 1.
Earlier this week, Beth earned an invitational bid to compete in the NCAA Championships. She will play in the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional on May 11-13 looking to advance to the NCAA Championships on May 22-27.
Beth is Georgia’s 16th All-Freshman honoree since the award’s inception in 19 years ago 2008.
