WATCH: An amazingly simple drill to stop the average golfer swaying in the backswing

It’s probably the number one mistake that the average golfer makes.

At the very least it is among the first made in the backswing.

And it is so, so, so destructive.

What is is? It’s swaying off the ball.

The hacker does it, the average golfer does it, even decent handicap golfers do it.

Good golfers, however, don’t.

It’s too easy for the rest of us to do, unfortunately.

It’s also surprisingly simple to drill away at.

In this short video, Keith Bennett, a PGA golf coach from Arizona, makes it so easy to identify where we are going wrong – and hopefully put us on the road to getting it better.

When you’re at the range, take your basket (remove the balls first) and use your body to keep it pushed against a wall.

Now swing back.

If you sway, the basket falls off the wall.

It’s that straightforward.

Practice swinging back and keeping the basket wedged between your lead hip and the wall to improve the basics in your game.
