Want to hit your driver further?
Want to hit it more consistently?
Of course you do – it’s what we all want and this great drill video from Callaway Europe could be the answer.
Coach Danny Maude is the man with the know-how and he says: “To find a consistent swing with driver is often very difficult unless you know what to feel.”
He adds: “My students loves this exercise that I give them. It’s called the dumbell exercise.”
“Imagine grabbing a dumbell with your trail arm,” he explains. “What I’m going to do is push this trail elbow right into my body here, which is quite different to how most people have it stuck out here.
“And what I’m going to do is a dumbell exercise to the top of the swing.
“What this does is, it trains how your right side moves beautifully into the top of the swing.
“My arm and my body are in a great position to do what? To fire back down again.
“Most of the time golfers are super inconsistent because this arm is out of place and what happens is that when they pull it back in place, they work around the body and the arms gets lost somewhere.

“But when I’ve got my dumbell here, watch this, I’m putting the club beautifully in a great position.
“From here all I do with my trail arm is fire that trail side right down through the ball.
“As I do this what do you notice?!
“My lead side opens up and my elbow is always in a great position, it is staying there ready to give the ball a real good smack and I’m in control.
“Try that next time you’re smashing driver.”
