Are you struggling to get up and down from around the greens?
When your ball is on the fringe it’s frustrating to know what club to take.
Because chipping with loft is always dangerous for average golfers.
And Sir Nick Faldo reckons there is a much simpler way to go about saving par (or bogey).
“So if you want to get rid of one shot on your card,” he asks in this video, “chip old school with your 8-iron a little more.
“Because it’s great, especially if you’ve got a little bad lie just off the side of the green and the ball’s sitting down a bit.”
The six-time major championship winner takes a closer look at the 8-iron.
“You’ve got this lovely little radius here,” he says and then explains how he takes the shot.
“I used to lift my hands up,” he says. “The weight is here (on the front foot) and the ball is off the right toe and I’m going to hit it out of the toe (of the club).
“Because that will dig the ball out of that little lie, you see.”
The he demonstrates the stroke.
“It’s just like a putting stroke, a brushing stroke and (land it) just on the edge of the green.
“See – off it goes, look at that.
“That will get rid of more than one shot a round,” he concludes.
