Hello Golfers!
How lucky are we as golfers to have such wonderful products coming out for review. This month I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to review and test drive the MGI Zip X5 Motorised buggy.
MGI are renowned for producing some of the best electronic buggies on the market so improving their product is hard, but let me assure you they have. Let’s take a dive into their MGI Zip X5 model.
My initial thoughts when I went to get the buggy from MGI was when lifting the box, I couldn’t believe how light and easy it was to carry, which for a motorised buggy when carrying it in and out in the car is paramount. Compact in size and considerably lighter for absolute space saving. I have a medium size car so fitting a stand bag and electronic buggy can be an issue. But not for this buggy! Folding the buggy both up and down is another feature that shouldn’t be overlooked. The Zip fold buggy allows for both space in the car but also the footprint of the buggy when using it, while looking at it was something I really liked and made the journey around the course easier.
I tested the buggy whilst playing at Sandhurst Golf Club which is not the hilliest course in Melbourne, however when the buggy was going up and down the slopes around the course the Electronic Park brake would stop and hold the MGI Zip X5 on any terrain. Along with this the downhill speed control maintained a speed I wanted on all downhill terrain. Again, this key feature made the experience of using the buggy more enjoyable.
Now one of the most important features when looking for a new buggy is the battery and charging capabilities. I am absolutely someone who will forget to charge their buggy post round, however MGI have designed and engineered this buggy, which has a 250Wh Lithium battery, to comfortably complete 36 holes in one day on one charge, if fully charged before use, and of course that being dependent on playing conditions. There is nothing worse than forgetting to charge the battery, so having the peace of mind in knowing your buggy will potentially last two 18-hole rounds on one charge, is a fantastic feature. It should be noted that Sandhurst is relatively flat, so the course and layout conditions can affect this!
Another feature of the buggy which I found interesting was the fact that my stand bag fitted beautifully which is something not all electronic buggies cater for.
I went as far as testing the main types of bags on the buggy; staff, cart, stand and pencil bags! All to which adds to the versatility of the buggy!
Overall, the MGI Zip X5 Motorised buggy stands out as a top-tier option in the market, combining lightweight portability, advanced features for terrain management, long battery life, and compatibility with various golf bag types. It’s a game-changer for golfers seeking a reliable and efficient motorized buggy for your rounds on the course.
