Which active PGA Tour star ranks among the top 7 for most consecutive cuts made?

All professional golfers on tour strive to consistently stay above the cut-line and make the weekend in PGA golf events.

Getting to the final 36 holes of tournaments offers the the best chance to regularly fight for titles, gain valuable ranking points and prize money.

Below we list the top seven streaks on the PGA Tour. It features just one active player while the leader on the list is, let’s say, no stranger to a golfing record…

7. Tom Kite – 53

Kite’s glistening PGA Tour career featured 19 victories, including a win at the 1992 US Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links, coincidentally the venue of this weekend’s PGA Tour event.

Despite never being ranked World No.1, his consistency spanned 53 consecutive cuts but was finally broken during the 1988 LA Open.

6. Xander Schauffele – 57*

Leading the streak for active players with the most consecutive cuts made by a great margin, Schauffele’s recent performances, including two Majors in 2024, have been impressive.

The World No.2 is currently nursing a rib injury but will be hoping to climb the list upon his return to the Tour.

With Scottie Scheffler having made every single cut since August 2022, the PGA Tour’s current dominant force could make an appearance on the list if he hits the ground running on his return.

5. Don Finsterwald – 72

Finsterwald built a reputation of precision and adaptability in the sport during the 1950s and 60s with an impressive run of cuts a testament to his consistency.

He claimed his only Major at the PGA Championship in 1958 with his streak finally ending at the 1964 St Paul Open.

4. Hale Irwin – 86

Irwin was prolific over a career which spanned multiple decades and was highlighted by three US Open victories.

His final Major victory at the age of 45 made him the oldest ever US Open winner with the American’s cut streak only being ended in 1980 at the Western Open.

3. Jack Nicklaus – 105

‘The Golden Bear most dominant figures ever is one of the game’s greatest ever icons having won a record 18 Major titles over his remarkable career.

Many believe his streak could have continued for much longer when it ended at the 1976 World Open, a huge surprise at the time.

2. Byron Nelson – 113

While Nelson’s streak of 113 consecutive made cuts is incredibly impressive, his record of 11 straight PGA Tour wins in 1945 has remained untouched for the past 80 years.

His incomprehensible streak of making the cut came to an end at the 1949 Bing Crosby Pro-Am, a testament to his accuracy.

1. Tiger Woods – 142

Arguably the greatest to play the game, Woods’ streak of 142 made cuts is often considered one of the most unbreakable records in the game.

He finally missed a cut at the 2005 Byron Nelson Championship where he fell just short.

For context, if you assume the average PGA Tour golfer plays an average of 20 events per year, it would take seven full seasons without missing a single cut to rival this record.
