Will Southern Guards down Rahm’s Legion XIII on home soil?

Many observers are predicting a two-way shoot out for this week’s team title at LIV Golf South Africa with the Southern Guards in contention.

Legion XIII has been a mainstay at the top of the standings, and despite not having won yet this season, they’ve finished in the top 4 of each of the four events this season. Captain Jon Rahm continues to play extremely well, and Tyrrell Hatton has finished in the top 10 in two of his past three starts. After finishing 2025 having shown significant promise, youngsters Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt have gotten off to slow starts this season. If that changes, Legion XIII will be tough to beat.

There is a good deal of pressure as well as obligations for the Southern Guards this week, who will be hosting the first-ever LIV Golf event on their home continent.

It’s not always easy to play as the home favorite but considering how well each of the four players have performed in South Africa over the course of their careers, many believe they’ll be up to the task.
