DICKSON, Tn.—Senior Elizabeth Powell led with a third-place finish, and the Oglethorpe women’s golf team secured third at the Southern Athletic Association Championships. The event took place Friday through Sunday at the par 72 Greystone Golf Club, featuring 54 holes of championship action.
The third-place finish marked Oglethorpe’s highest since 2019 when the Stormy Petrels took runner-up.
The team came up clutch on the final day, with three individuals breaking 80 to help the Petrels finish with a three-stroke advantage over fourth-place Centre. Centre spent nearly all 18 holes on Sunday nipping at Oglethorpe’s heels.
Powell (74-75-74) earned all-SAA first team with her third-place finish, marking her third straight year on the all-conference team. Powell previously made the all-SAA second team in 2024 and 2025, last year taking eighth individually.
Freshman Dounia Bezzari (81-72-81), who was pre-voted to the all-conference team, solidified her place on the first team with a 13th place. Freshman McKazlyn Payne (19th) and junior Abrianna Carstens (30th) rounded out Oglethorpe’s scoring in the top 30.
