AUGUSTA, Ga – The 2025-26 golf season has arrived and the Augusta University women start the year early. The team will be in action Monday, Aug. 25 at The Tiger Classic at The Walker Course in Clemson, S.C.
It’s year two with Ember Holloway as coach and the biggest difference from a year ago will be the depth of the team. With four returning players and four newcomers, Holloway knows that alone can be a game changer.
“Just from the qualifying standpoint, we didn’t have that last year, they knew they were all going to play. Now this year, they know they are not only competing away, but competing at home as well, competing for their spots and it amps up everything for us and can do a lot of good things. It’s exciting stuff and I think they’re going to add some firepower that we needed,” said Holloway.
Bolstering the roster has also raised the goals as the Jaguars embark on the fall portion of their schedule.
“The expectations are pretty high,” said Holloway. “We have the depth this year to definitely make some moves. I think the way our schedule is set, we have the ability to place very well and maybe get a couple of wins, that’s definitely an expectation.”
Marine Legentil, Sara Adams, Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy and Jessica Pilgrim all return from last year’s team. They will be joined by Yariliz Delgado, Danielle Higbee, Puntita Pawichai and Sofia Valera as they look to make waves in the new West Coast Conference.
Holloway likes what she is seeing early on and expects this group to be ready to play well at Clemson. Even though they have only been on campus for a couple of weeks, the newcomers are posting scores that will give the returning players a run for their spot in the starting lineup. They don’t back down from the challenge and are as ready as ever to play Division One golf.
“I think you even see that on the pro tour,” said Holloway. “You see these kids 14, 15 years old kids making PGA or LPGA starts. It just starts younger and they are use to the pressure, they are use to the competition and they are ready to play.”
