Women’s Golf Wraps MCC Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Elizabeth Powell led the way individually in 23rd, and the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels finished 10th in the MCC Women’s Intercollegiate on Monday.

As a team, Oglethorpe finished with rounds of 325-320, nearly 25 strokes ahead of 11th place Transylvania. Southern Athletic Association opponent Sewanee finished two spots ahead in eighth.

Powell finished round one at 5 over par, then sharpened her game in round two at just 3 over par. Powell was fresh off co-winning last week’s Joe and Lee Duncan Invitational. Sophia Morettini moved up a spot on the second day after also shooting just 3 over par, finishing 38th.

Alexis Sinutko entered as an individual and placed 50th after shooting 81-81, on par with what she posted in last week’s opening round, her Oglethorpe debut. Junior Grace Daech and freshman Morgan McKenzie placed 55th and 57th to round out Oglethorpe’s scoring.

Up next, the Stormy Petrels will head to Florida for the Golfweek Fall Invitational Sunday-Tuesday, Oct 13-15.
